My family and I love Thai food! When we visited Mekong at Anantara, Hua Hin, and it was the best Thai food we ever had (no joke!). When we heard that Mekong opened in Dubai, we had high expectations. Our experience started with the reservations; I called to book a table for dinner, and they mentioned that they only had a table at 10pm instead of 9pm, which was ok since we were running late. When we arrived at 10, the lady couldn’t find our reservation and was looking for our name on the system for about 15 minutes, even though, half the restaurant was empty. That was just ridiculous. After being seated, we ordered a mixture of appetizers and main course. One thing that was new to us was the complimentary appetizer plate that is a palette cleanser. I think that was the only thing that was impressive. The menu was almost identical to the Mekong in Hua Hin, but the taste of the food was nowhere near. We did expect a little more than what we got, but we still enjoyed the food. I would say it is a “one-time visit” restaurant. If you like trying new places and cuisines. Mekong would be perfect for you.
